     The legend about the Doiran Lake says that on the place of today's Doiran Lake stretched widevalley with lush meadows and diverse gardens.There was a spring on the elevated place nearby. Besides the valley lived a beautiful girl named Doirana. Most of the boys were in love with her,and unfortunatelly, also the Turkish nobleman - Kaimakan, . The beautiful girl didn't want tomarry him, but the Kaimakan started tracking her all the time. Finding herself in hopeless situation, and not wanting to fall in his hands, Doirana threw herself in the big spring. The spring accepted her innocent body, and as the legend says, for cover and revenge the body it started to spill over. It covered the entire valley. In short time the valley turned into a beautiful lake. So,the lake and the city were named after the beautiful Doirana. The lake was called Doiran Lake and the city, Doiran.
