     National Park was proclaimed the macedonian side of the mountain in 1958 because of the natural beauty and exceptionally rich and endemic flora and fauna. The park is located between Lake Ohrid and Prespa and stretches in a meridian direction. It covers an area of ​​227 km.

     Galicica main geological surface in most Paleozoic metamorphic silicates covered with a layer of massive limestone thick of 500-550 m, with a spongy structure and high porosity.

     Galicica enjoys a moderate continental climate, which is influenced by a large quantity of water from the two lakes and the warm sub-Mediterranean influences that break through the relatively low mountain ranges in Albania.

     Besides the natural beauty and aesthetic values ​​Galicica is also a unique space with ecological integration and well-preserved natural vegetation in some ecosystems.

Flora in the National Park Galicica is represented by over 800 species, of which a number of relict and endemic, whose ultimate limit distribution is the mountain. The presence of 11 local endemic species discovered, can be found only on the slopes of Galicica, which is clear evidence of specific floristic composition of this mountain.

     Galicica fauna is also rich and diverse. There is no precise data for the number of invertebrate species. Vertebrates are represented by 170 species of which 10 amphibians, 18 reptiles, 124 birds and 18 mammals.
