...and Greece (15.8 km²). To the west is the city of Nov Dojran (Нов Дојран), to the east the village of Mouries, to the north the mountain Belasica/Beles and to the south the Greek town of Doirani. The lake has a rounded shape, a maximum depth of 10 m and a north-to-south length of 8.9 km and is 7.1 km at its widest, making it the third largest lake partially in the Republic of Macedonia after Lake Ohrid and Lake Prespa.

     The level of the lake is at an altitude of 148 meters, and air and water temperatures in the lake are influenced by the proximity of the Aegean Sea. The temperature of the water in the lake reaches up to 27 ° C, with water transparency from 1 to 3.6 meters. The lake is fed by water from groundwater sources, as well as Big River, Toplec and others.

     Dojran has tectonic-volcanic origin.In fact, it is a relict remnant of former Pleistocene Lake Paeonian.
There are 12 faunal endemics registered in Doiran Lake. Two of the 15 species of fish are local endemic species
