It flows out of Lake Ohrid in Struga, Macedonia.

     Black Drim flows out of the lake 695 meters above sea level, and leaving Macedonia near the town of Debar 476 meters above sea level. Macedonian territory Drim is 56 kilometers long.

     Leaving the village Tashmanurishta the river enters the gorge and soon after it forms a lake due to dam located 10 km to the north on the other side of the lake. Dam forms the reservoir Globocica created by the waters of the Black Drim. Immediately after the hydroelectric power plant water Globocica Drim create another lake with a dam 102 feet high near the town of Debar. This lake is the richest water lake in Macedonia. The lake accumulated 520 million cubic meters of water. Water from the lake with the help of tunnels implemented in hydroelectric power plant Spilje. In the waters of the Black Drim live different species of fish, such as carp, chub, eel, barbell, and others. At this point the water capacity of the river are used to their maximum and it is an important hydro potential of the Republic of Macedonia.

     In northern Albania, Black Drim flows into White Drim and forms a lake. After the confluence of Black Drim (White Drim) in White Drin, the river flows to the flow in the Adriatic under one name - Drim.
